Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the purchase of two (2) FPX Nano; GE 150: w/Charger and Backpack and two (2) Panasonic Ruggedized Tablet w/Integrated XTK Software per grant funding from the 2019 State Homeland Security Program Grant awarded on October 10, 2019 for an amount not to exceed $91,621.86 (Chief of Police)
Background:
Approval of this item will allow the Police Department to obtain two (2) portable x-ray systems to support the safety and effectiveness of the Department's bomb technicians.
On March 12, 2019 Council authorized the submission of the 2019 State Homeland Security Program to purchase two (2) portable x-ray systems for the agency’s bomb technicians. The Police Department has two (2) officers assigned to the Texas City Regional Bomb Squad and those officers need this equipment to be operationally safe, as well as effective.
These systems provide a small rapidly deployable X-ray set-up that can be used in the identification and mitigation of potential explosive threats. This purchase would be an improvement in technology and capability over the aging systems currently deployed by the regional team.
The items will be purchased from MSPT, LLC located in California and they are the sole source supplier of these items. The items to be purchased are:
Two (2) - FPX NANO W/GE 150 w/Charger and Backpack: $86,240.80
Two (2) - Panasonic Ruggedized Tablet w/Integrated XTK Software: $5,381.06
Total: $91,621.86
The Police Department will purchase the requested items out of their operational budget and will be reimbursed once proof of purchase is submitted to UASI.
