Title

Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a grant application to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for a Planning Grant from the Boating Access Grant Program (Director of Budget & Project Management)

Background:

Approval of this resolution will authorize staff to apply for a grant to be used to offset planning and design costs for the Three (3) new Kayak Launches into Clear Creek (PK2002).

The grant program is a new grant opportunity provided by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) through Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD).  City staff provided information concerning the design costs for these kayak launches to TPWD and indirectly with USFWS to help create this grant fund.

The maximum funding available from the TPWD grant is $250,000 and a minimum of $83,333 is required from the city as match.  The minimum city match will be covered as part of the Burditt design contract (PK2002) on tonight’s agenda in the amount of $439,340.

Staff requests the approval to move forward with the grant application:

1.                     Grant Application Pre-Approval form in the amount of $83,333.
