Title

Consider and take action on a resolution declaring thirty-nine (39) vehicles including three (3) fire apparatus; two (2) trailers; one (1) zero-turn mower; and ten (10) heavy equipment units as surplus property and authorizing City Staff to dispose of the surplus property in accordance with City policy (Director of Public Works)

Background:

Approval of this resolution will authorize the disposal of surplus vehicles and equipment. Per Chapter 2, Article VI, Section 2- 301 of the City of League City Code of Ordinances, before any property of the City is sold or offered for sale, the property shall first be declared surplus property by resolution duly adopted by the City Council and approve the method to be used in disposing of the property. Attached please find Exhibit" A" which identifies the list of automobiles and equipment proposed for auction.

The City will begin using Public Surplus for online auction and surplus management services. Public Surplus specializes in auctions for school districts, governments, and other public entities. Public Surplus auction services reduces service fees paid directly from the City and promotes a higher return rate for auction sales. Public Surplus estimates increased revenue of at least 30% compared to traditional auction companies. This is in part due to Public Surplus allowing for the City to collect all proceeds related to the auction, rather than taking a percentage of the sales price the way traditional auction companies do.

Last auction was approved by Council on September 11, 2018, for auction dates October 5 - 19, 2018.

The City will handle title and bill of sale transfers to all winning bidders.
