Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the submission of a grant application to the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts to receive a share of the annual allocation from the Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education Program (LEOSE) and authorizing the Chief of Police to apply for this funding on an annual basis (Chief of Police)
Background:
The Texas Comptroller is directed by the Occupations Code, Section 1701.157 to make an annual allocation from the Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education Program (LEOSE) account to qualified law enforcement agencies for expenses related to the continuing education of persons licensed under Chapter 1701, Occupations Code. Twenty percent of the funds in this account is allocated equally among the qualified agencies. Eighty percent of the funding provided is allocated based on the number of eligible law enforcement positions each agency had as of January 1 of the preceding calendar year.
If approved to submit this grant application, the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts will provide funds to the City of League City for additional training funds for the continuing education for employees licensed under Chapter 1701, Occupations Code. The proposed grant totals approximately $7,630.00.
The League City Police Department has been receiving funding through Chapter 1701 of the Occupations Code for over fifteen years.

FUNDING
