Title
Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a professional services agreement with ARKK Engineers, LLC for the design and construction phase services related to the FM518 Waterline Replacement Project - I45 to Landing Ditch (WT1904C) in an amount not to exceed $186,690 (Director of Budget and Project Management)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize funding for the professional services agreement with ARKK Engineers, LLC for design and construction phase services related to the FM518 Waterline Replacement Project - I45 to Landing Ditch (WT1904C). This project is part of the Annual Waterline Upgrades and Replacement project which consists of replacing aging waterlines and upsizing waterlines to meet demand.

The scope consists of providing engineering design and construction phase services associated with the replacement of the existing 10-inch diameter waterline along the northwest side of FM518, from Interstate 45 to Landing Ditch, with a new 12-inch diameter waterline. The total footage of waterline to be replaced is estimated to be approximately 2,830 linear feet of 12-inch water mains, plus 560 linear feet of branching lines, including cased water line crossings of FM518. Based on preliminary cost estimates performed by ARKK, the estimated construction cost for the waterline replacement is $1.32 million. Based on information available, the proposed waterline is anticipated to be installed within the general alignment area of the existing waterline. At this time, no additional easements are anticipated to be required for this project. However, a budget for easement document preparation, if determined to be necessary, is included in this proposal. The waterline is of similar age and condition to the section of waterline being replaced from I45 to SH3. In this case, the design is being expedited to ensure that construction is completed ahead of an anticipated TxDOT hike and bike trail that follows the same alignment.
