Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a one-year agreement with The Galveston Daily News for various advertising services for an amount not to exceed $22,000 and designating the Galveston Daily News as the official Newspaper for the City of League City (Director of Finance)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize a one-year agreement with The Galveston Daily News as the official newspaper for the City of League City. Under Texas Local Government Code Section 52.004 and the City of League City Charter (Article X, Section 13), the City must designate a local newspaper as the official newspaper for the City of League City annually.
The Purchasing Department requested three quotes from local area newspapers; only two quotes were received back. Quotes were received from the incumbent paper, The Galveston Daily News, and the Bay Area Observer. The quotes were reviewed for cost, circulation and publication days.
Based upon these criteria, staff recommends the Galveston Daily News as the official newspaper for the City. Pricing will remain at the current rate of $10 per column inch.
