Consider and take action on an ordinance amending Chapter 110 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of League City, entitled "Traffic and Vehicles" to update various provisions related to Article IX, entitled "Motorized Carts" (City Attorney)

 

Background:

Approval of this agenda item will authorize several amendments to the section of the City's Code of Ordinances that regulate Motorized Carts.

 

As part of an ongoing directive from the City Council, the City Attorney has been reviewing (and updating where needed) various sections the City's Code of Ordinances. 

 

The City Attorney's office collaborated with the Police Department and Planning Directorate in its review of the City's regulations related to Motorized Carts.  A summary of the updates to Chapter 110, Article IX is as follows:

- Reorganized definition section. Clarified ordinance that golf carts are limited in operation.

- Allowed utility vehicles to operate in the same limited circumstances as golf carts.

- Removed city permitting process for motorized carts.

- Updated references to state statutes to include equipment and license plate requirements.
