Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a professional services agreement with Sander Engineering Corporation for design work related to the Annual Water System Improvements Project (WT1802) in an amount not to exceed $220,000 (Director of Budget & Project Management)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the award of a professional services agreement with Sander Engineering Corporation to perform the engineering design and construction phase services related to Annual Water System Improvements Project (WT1802), which includes the Meadowbend Ground Storage Tank, Alabama Elevated Storage Tank, and South Shore Harbour Elevated Storage Tank.
City of League City tanks are visually inspected and cleaned annually, but per the Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ), gradual degradation of interior surfaces and structural features occur over many years of service. Rust (pitting), scaling, mineral deposits, and corrosion of roof supports can contribute to leaks and to associated water quality that could jeopardize public health and regulatory compliance.
Each of the facilities will receive miscellaneous structural repairs:
· the Meadowbend GST will receive a blast and recoat of the interior of the galvanized GST and yard piping.
· the Alabama EST will receive a blast and recoat of the interior and exterior of the tank, support system, yard piping, and exterior of the of the storage building
· the South Shore Harbour EST will receive a blast and recoat of the interior and exterior of the tank, the access doors, yard piping, and selected interior piping
Sander Engineering has submitted a proposal to perform the engineering design and construction phase services not to exceed $220,000, which includes the following:
1. Preliminary Design Phase $ 66,000
2. Final Design Phase Services $ 57,000
3. Contract Bid Phase $ 7,600
4. Construction Phase Services $ 28,000
5. Testing during Construction $ 60,400
