Presentation of a proclamation declaring May 16-22, 2021 as National EMS Week (Mayor Hallisey)
Background:
May 16-22, 2021, is the 46th annual National EMS Week. In 1974, President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our nation's communities. This year's theme is "This Is EMS: Caring for Our Communities."
The members of the League City Emergency Medical Services team stand ready to provide compassionate, lifesaving care, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Access to quality emergency care drastically improves the survival and recovery rate of those who experience sudden illness or injury. League City Emergency Medical Services has grown to fill a gap by providing important, out of hospital care, including preventative medicine, follow-up care, and access to telemedicine, and engage in thousands of hours of specialized training and continuing education to enhance their lifesaving skills.
