Title
Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a construction contract with Triple B Services, LLP for the Deer Ridge Drive Buyout and Overland Flow Improvements Project (DR1902), in an amount not to exceed $2,384,436.83 and authorizing a work change directive budget of 238,443, for a total construction budget of $2,622,879.83 (Director of Budget & Project Management)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the award of the construction contract to Triple B Services, LLP for the construction of the Deer Ridge Drive and Overland Flow Improvements Project (DR1902).

This project will help reduce long-term repetitive losses within the Oaks of Clear Creek Subdivision and will also improve drainage of Deer Ridge Drive into the existing Bradshaw Ditch.

The project was advertised on March 23, 2021 and seven (7) sealed bids were received on April 21, 2021 (Bid No. 21-CIP-001). Triple B Services, LLP’s bid of $2,384,436.83 is $414,650.17 less than the Engineer’s construction cost estimate of $2,799,087. Triple B Services, LLP has constructed projects similar to this one for other cities in the last year and were found to be easy to work with, reliable and have constructed good work product. Triple B’s bid is based on 120 calendar days from notice to proceed to substantial completion, with another 30 days to final completion. Attached is the City’s engineering consultant’s recommendation of award, along with the bid tabulation.

This construction bid award represents the fifth GO Bond project to start construction as approved at the May 2019 Election, and the second Prop A Drainage project to start construction.

Construction was budgeted at $1,018,000 from the 2020 GO Bond Prop A issue. The additional $1,604,879.83 will be funded from GO bond funds sold for drainage projects that have not begun pending US Army Corps permitting.
