Title
Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing a professional services agreement with Gradient Group, LLC for design, bid and construction phase services related to the Calder Road Widening from FM517 to 300 feet North of FM517 (ST2102) in an amount not to exceed $63,818 (Executive Director of Finance & Project Management)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize a professional services agreement with Gradient Group, LLC to perform, or have subconsultants perform, engineering design services associated with the Calder Road Widening from FM517 to 300 feet North of FM517 Project (ST2102) in an amount not to exceed $63,818.

At the April 13, 2021 meeting, Council approved Item 21-0203/Agenda No. 10B directing staff to add a project to the FY2021 Capital Improvement Plan that would provide a right turn lane (southbound Calder Road to westbound on FM517) to work with the proposed TxDOT signal at the location (Resolution No. 2021-57).

The project consists of widening Calder Road a total of 8 feet on the east side of the roadway from FM517 to approximately 300 feet north of FM517 to provide two southbound lanes on the approach of the FM517 intersection and will be done within the existing Calder Road right-of-way (ROW). The pavement section design will be 8-inch concrete with a 6-inch lime stabilized Subgrade. The signal at Calder & FM517 was originally part of the GO Bond Program and is currently being constructed by TxDOT. The addition of the two southbound lanes will improve efficiency of the newly installed traffic signal by improving traffic flow.

Professional services provided also include bid and construction phase services as well as reimbursables. Surveying services will be provided by a subconsultant. Add services to be authorized by the City as needed include Level D SUE services.

Design is proposed at 263 days, with an estimated construction cost of $212,502.75. Construction is programmed in the CIP in FY22 as part of the Str...
