Consider and take action on an appointment to the Civil Service Commission (City Manager)
Background:
If approved, this item will confirm the appointment of David Madden to the Civil Service Commission. Mr. Madden will fill a vacancy after the resignation of Lori Patsch and will assume the position for the remainder of the term ending December 31, 2022.
Position 3 was vacated in March 2022. Applications from interested citizens were accepted, and David Madden was selected to fill the vacancy, pending Council approval. Mr. Madden is a Subsea Umbilical Specialist at Dave Madden Consultancy, LLC and has been a resident of League City for the past twenty years.

Per Section 143.006 of Texas Local Government Code - The commission consists of three members appointed by the municipality's chief executive and confirmed by the governing body of the municipality. Members serve staggered three-year terms with the term of one member expiring each year.
Texas Local Government Code requires a person appointed to the commission to be of good moral character; a United States citizen; a resident of the municipality for more than three years; over 25 years of age; and not have held a public office within the preceding three years.
