Background:

Approval of this item will order a Special Election for the City of League City on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 to elect a Council Member to Position 3; ordering a Runoff Election on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, if necessary.

 

Under Article II, Section 11 of the Texas Constitution, any vacancy occurring on the City Council that has an unexpired term of more than 12 months, must be filled by a majority vote of the qualified voters at a special election called within one hundred and twenty (120) days after such vacancy.
