Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize an agreement with American Materials, Inc. for the purchase of hot mix asphalt material for city-wide street repairs from April 1, 2024 through March 31, 2026 in an amount not to exceed $649,000, with the option to renew for three (3) additional one-year periods.
On February 7, 2024, the City released an Invitation to Bid (ITB) #24-015 Hot Mix Asphalt for City-Wide Street Repairs for this item. Three bids were received on March 5, 2024. American Materials, Inc. was the lowest qualified bidder in the amount of $82.00 based on price per ton. Bid tabulation is as follows:
American Materials, Inc. - $649,000 (2 years)
• $82/ton plus applicable delivery cost - First mile $4.50, each additional mile $0.30
• Estimated cost of delivered product - $242,500 annually
• Estimated cost of delivered product by City - $82,000 annually
Texas Materials Group - $649,500 (2 years)
• $85/ton plus applicable delivery cost - First mile $4.00, each additional mile $0.30
• Estimated cost of delivered product - $239,750 annually
• Estimated cost of delivered product by City - $85,000 annually
Vulcan Construction Materials, LLC - $705,000 (2 years)
