Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the purchase of portable Motorola APX 6000XE radios in an amount not to exceed $90,489.00 (Fire Chief and Director of Information Technology)
Background:
On January 1, 2023 City Council approved resolution 2023-11 to ratify the submission of a grant application to the FY2023 Houston Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) for the purchase of replacement radio equipment for public safety/first responders to include public works. This grant would allow funds to be allocated to replace the remaining non XE handheld radios with XE radios, which are designed for extreme environments (fires, floods, etc.). The radios being replaced would be reassigned to public works to replace their end of life/end of service radios.
On September 26, 2023 the HS-Homeland Security Grant Program (HSGP) awarded the City of League City $90,489.00 of the $746,807.00 that was initially applied for. The funds that were awarded allows for the purchase of 16 APX 6000XE portable radios.
