Consider and take action on an ordinance ordering a General-Special Election for the City of League City, Texas on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 to elect Council Members to Positions 3, 4 and 5; ordering a Runoff Election on Saturday, December 14, 2024, if necessary; and for the purpose of submitting to the registered voters separate propositions for the amendment of the City Charter (City Secretary)
Background:
Approval of this item will order a General Election for the City of League City on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, to elect Council Members to Positions 3, 4 and 5; ordering a Runoff Election on Saturday, December 14, 2024, if necessary; and submitting to the registered voters separate propositions for the amendment of the City Charter.
According to Section 3.005 of the Texas Election Code, an election ordered by an authority of a political subdivision shall be ordered not later than the 78th day before the election. In 2024 the 78th day before the election is Monday, August 19 2024.
