Title

Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing expenditures for on-site fire equipment and personnel costs at Walter Hall Park for the League City Lions Club “68th Annual League City Music Fest and BBQ Cook Off” to be held on October 4th and October 5th, 2024 (Interim Fire Chief)

Background:

This event will take place at Walter Hall Park on October 4th & 5th, 2024. If approved, this item will provide the League City Lions Club event a standby MICU Ambulance and crew, a mobile command trailer, and two staff members on October 4th, 3PM - midnight, and October 5th, 9AM  -  midnight at no cost.

This event is estimated to draw approximately 10,000 attendees throughout the multi-day festival. Historically, event patrons have requested EMS services for emergency medical care. Per the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force Reimbursement Rates (See attachment) the total cost to the City is $10,639.84. The total includes $7,847.40 in overtime labor costs and $2,792.44, the estimated value of MICU Ambulance, mobile command trailer, and event permits. Refer to the cost breakdown sheet for a complete cost breakdown.

The ultimate function of the centralized mobile command trailer is to establish authority and process for responding to safety incidents, to include a process for pausing and/or canceling then event and can work with hired security to conduct in-depth shift briefings to achieve consistent awareness, interoperable communications, and preparedness among all event staff, employees, city staff, and volunteers throughout all phases of this event.
