Consider and take action on a ordinance amending the City of League City Code of Ordinances, Chapter 18, Article IV. Animal Advisory Committee to align with the State requirements outlined in Chapter 823 of the Texas Health and Safety Code (Chief of Police)

 

Background:

Approval of this item will update various sections in Chapter 18 (Article IV Animal Advisory Committee).

The updates and changes will align these sections of the City’s Code of Ordinance with the State’s requirements outlined in Chapter 823 of the Texas Health and Safety Code.

Summary of Changes:

• Reduce the number of board members from seven to the State standard of four.

• Wave the residency requirements for board members.

• Ensure the duties of the committee reflect the state requirements and guidelines.
