Title
Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing the submission of a grant application to the FY2025 Houston Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) for the purchase of a Rapid Medical Response UTV and authorizing City Manager John Baumgartner to accept such grant if awarded (Fire Chief)
Background:
Approval of this item would ratify the submission of an application by the Fire Department to the FY2025 Houston Urban Area Security Initiative. The League City Fire Department desires to add 1 (one) Rapid Response UTV to the fleet to allow for the EMS division to have a response apparatus available for special events. The Fire Department EMS Division has one enclosed rapid response medical UTV, purchased in FY2024. The addition of this resource would allow for the EMS division to deploy these enclosed UTV’s to multiple events at the same time. As the City continues to host and sponsor events for our citizens, the EMS Division is regularly at multiple events at one time, and this resource would greatly enhance their response capabilities at these events. These Rapid Response UTVs have become an industry trend for medical response within highly populated events with agencies such as the Houston Fire Department, New York Fire Department, and the New Orleans Fire Department utilizing these UTVs for events with large gatherings.
The proposed funding of $78,908.00 for this grant application would be 100% funded through the Houston Area Security Initiative grant program.
