Title

Consider and take action on a resolution declaring a Cummins QSX15 Generator with a Siemens-Furnace Controls Enclosure as surplus property (Director of Finance)

Background:

Approval of this resolution will declare surplus and authorize the disposal of a Cummins QSX15 Generator with a Siemens-Furnas Controls Enclosure plus transfer switch and generator enclosure in accordance with the City’s policy, by placing the item into a public auction. Per Chapter 2, Article VI, Section 2- 301 of the City of League City Code of Ordinances, the city council shall approve the disposal of all individual pieces [valued] at or above $5,000.

The generator was originally installed in 2001. It served the Water Production department well until the Calder Road Booster Pump Station rehabilitation project in 2015. During that rehab project, this generator had to be replaced due to an increased electrical load capacity caused by additional equipment, including a groundwater well and larger distribution pumps and motors. The department has since acquired a new generator that can handle the pump station’s needs, and the old generator is no longer of use to the Water Production department.
