Consider and take action on a resolution declaring thirteen (13) vehicles, two (2) motorcycles and one (1) cargo trailer as surplus property and authorizing City staff to dispose of the surplus property in accordance with City policy (Director of Public Works)
Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize the disposal of surplus vehicles and equipment. Per Chapter 2, Article VI, section 2- 301 of the City of League City Code of Ordinances, before any property of the City is sold or offered for sale, the property shall first be declared surplus property. Attached, please find Exhibit “A,” which identifies the list of automobiles and equipment proposed for auction or to be repurposed within the City.
The City, via the Purchasing Department, will be using Purple Wave Auction for the surplus management services, including the online auction of vehicles and heavy equipment. Purple Wave specializes in auctions for school districts, governments, and other public entities. Purple Wave auction services reduce service fees paid directly from the city and promote a higher return for auction sales. By using Purple Wave, we are significantly increasing the number of bidders our auction items reach, with item views exceeding 100 views per item. Purple Wave partners with Copart, a global provider of online vehicle auction services, which ensures our surplus vehicles and heavy equipment reach our target audience on a mass scale.
The City will handle the title and bill of sale transfers to winning bidders.
