Title

Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an agreement with Hahn Equipment Co., Inc. for the repair of a 185 HP FLYGT electric submersible sewage pump located at the Dallas Salmon Wastewater Treatment Plant (DSWWTP) in an amount not to exceed $68,938.99 (Director of Public Works)

Background:

Approval of this item will authorize the agreement with Hahn Equipment Co., Inc. for the repair of a 185 HP FLYGT electric submersible sewage pump located at the Dallas Salmon Wastewater Treatment Plant (DSWWTP) in an amount not to exceed $68,938.99.

Pump No. 3, the subject of this repair, is one of four 185 HP submersible pumps that maintain firm capacity conveyance through the DSWWTP. Installed in 2006, Pump No. 3 has been in service for approximately 19 years. The proposed repair is necessary due to bearing and seal failure and will mark the second rebuild during the pump’s service life.

The DSWWTP serves approximately 80 percent of League City’s sanitary sewer service area, making it critical to complete this repair and ensure the lift station continues operating at full capacity.

The estimated cost of a new 185 HP submersible pump is $175,328, while the repair cost is $68,938.99, representing approximately 39 percent of the replacement cost. This cost comparison further supports the decision to repair Pump No. 3.
