Title

Consider and take action on an ordinance amending Chapter 2, Article V of the League City Code of Ordinances entitled “Records and Information Management" to designate methods for submission of public information requests and to update various sections (City Secretary)

Staff requests approval on first and final reading.

Background:

Approval of this item will authorize amendments to Chapter 2, Article V of the League City Code of Ordinances entitled "Records and Information Management".

Summary of Changes:

-                     Update Sec. 2-260 in compliance with HB 4214, by adding permissible methods for submission of public information requests. HB 4214 amended Section 552.234 of the Government Code by adding subsection (e) which states, "Not later than October 1 of each year, each governmental body shall notify the attorney general of the current mailing address and electronic mail address designated by the governmental body under Subsection (c) for receiving written requests for public information." The attorney general will maintain on its website a publicly accessible database of the mailing address and electronic mail addresses provided by governmental bodies.

-                     Eliminate references to duties and other responsibilities of recordkeeping, currently under a management plan administered by the City's designated Records Management Officer and established by the Texas Local Government Records Act.
