Consider and take action on an ordinance amending Chapter 125 of the Code of Ordinances of the City of League City, entitled, “Unified Development Code”, related to golf cart parking on grass surfaces (Councilmembers Cones and Mann)

 

The Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval, 4-1-0, on December 1, 2025.

 

Background:

Approval of this item will amend the Unified Development Code to allow golf carts to be parked in grass in certain instances.

 

Project Timeline:

November 14, 2025 - Notice of the public hearings was published in the paper.

December 1, 2025 - The Planning and Zoning Commission held a public hearing and recommend approval of the request.

December 16, 2025 - City Council is scheduled to hold a public hearing and hear the item on first reading.

January 13, 2026 - Subject to approval on first reading, City Council is scheduled to hear the item on second reading.

 

Project Summary:

The proposed ordinance amendment would permit up to six golf carts or Utility Task Vehicles (UTVs) associated with a business primarily engaged in the sale or repair of golf carts or UTVs to be displayed on grass surfaces. The amendments would also establish definitions for both golf carts and UTVs.

 

On December 1, 2025, the Planning and Zoning Commission recommended approval of the proposed text amendment, 4-1-0.
