Title
Consider and take action on a resolution for the expenditure, through Code3 Technology, of budgeted funds to replace laptops in existing ambulances and to purchase one additional laptop for the newly acquired ambulance in an amount not to exceed $56,410 (Executive Director of Information Technology, Facilities and Ballpark and Fire Chief)

Background:
Approval of this item will allow for the replacement of essential mobile computing equipment that has reached end-of-life and no longer meets the performance or reliability standards required for emergency operations. The proposed upgrade includes replacing eight (8) laptops used in the front cab of ambulances for Computer-Aided Dispatch functions, six (6) patient care tablets-with two units previously replaced last year-and providing one (1) laptop and one (1) tablet for the new ambulance currently on order. These replacements are necessary to maintain dependable field communications, ensure accurate patient care documentation, and support uninterrupted emergency response services.

The current iPads in service are not designed to withstand the operational demands of the EMS field environment. Continuous 24/7 use, combined with adverse environmental conditions, significantly shortens their expected service life. Transitioning to semi-rugged, hard-mounted tablets for the front of the ambulance, along with semi-rugged laptops for e-PCR (electronic patient care reporting), will provide greater durability and reliability. This change will reduce unit downtime caused by device failures or non-functional equipment and ensure uninterrupted support for our field operations.
Replacement ensures operational efficiency, reduces downtime, and maintains compatibility with CAD and other mission-critical systems

The FY26 budget includes funding allocated for EMS technology replacement and for equipping the new ambulance entering service this year
