Title

Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an agreement with Fun Abounds, Inc. for the purchase and installation of a playground unit at Heritage Park (PK1801) in an amount not to exceed $118,634; and authorizing a contingency budget of $11,863; for a total amount not to exceed $130,497 (Director of Parks and Cultural Services)

Background:

Approval of this resolution will authorize the purchase of one (1) playground unit consisting of two (2) age-appropriate structures, install borders, and fall surfacing installation at Heritage Park at a current cost of $118,634.

A contingency of $11,863 will be additional to cover any cost that may arise due to price increases to include shipping, fuel, materials, etc.

The playground unit is currently budgeted at $120,000 in the FY2026 CIP under the Reinvestment Program project PK1801 Parks Facility Renewal. Replacement of aging unit with un-replaceable parts will bring the playground into compliance of the National Safety Playground Standards. Approval of this item would meet the goals set forth in the Strategic Plan for Quality Community Amenities.

To identify the best pricing and cost efficiency, staff reached out to two additional playground vendors. Fun Abounds, Inc. was the lowest vendor and offered the most play elements. All vendors are part of the cooperative purchasing program. Parks Board unanimously recommended Fun Abounds, Inc. option at their November 3, 2025, meeting.
