Consider and take action on an ordinance ordering a Special Election for the City of League City, Texas, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, to submit a proposition regarding the League City Police Department’s continued use of automated license plate reader cameras at fixed locations on public roadways for law enforcement purposes (Mayor Long)
Sponsor requests approval on first and final reading.
Background:
The League City Police Department currently uses automated license plate reader cameras at fixed locations on public roadways for law enforcement purposes. The cameras collect license plate and vehicle information for law enforcement investigations.
Approval of this item will order a Special Election for November 3, 2026, to submit the following proposition to League City voters:
“Should the League City Police Department continue using automated license plate reader cameras at fixed locations on public roadways for law enforcement purposes?”
The election will be held concurrently with the City’s General Election.
