Consider and take action on a resolution authorizing an agreement with Paradigm Traffic Systems, Inc. for the purchase of 18 internally illuminated street name signs and 5 traffic cameras through Buyboard (Contract #695-23) in an amount not to exceed $84,255 (Director of Public Works)

Background:
Approval of this resolution will authorize an agreement with Paradigm Traffic Systems, Inc. for the purchase of 18 internally illuminated street name signs (ILSN) and 5 traffic cameras through Buyboard (Contract #695-23) in an amount not to exceed $84,255.

These materials are items standard to League City traffic signal design. These materials will provide updates to the aesthetics, functionality, and system compatibility with existing traffic signal equipment. This project is part of an ongoing effort to bring all traffic signals up to current League City standards which gives all traffic signals a consistent look in the community. This standardization also helps staff better maintain and repair items in which parts are kept in stock and staff is trained to troubleshoot repairs which decreases downtime of equipment and repairs made in-house. Traffic cameras are utilized by multiple departments to monitor current traffic conditions with items such as storm response. Equipment will be installed through contract and city forces. Signs and cameras will be installed at the following proposed locations: Main St. and S. Egret Bay Blvd, Main St. and Marina Bay Dr., Egret Bay Blvd and Access Rd, S. Egret Bay Blvd and Austin St., and W. Main St. and Bay Area Blvd.

Paradigm Traffic Systems, Inc. is the sole source provider for the aforementioned equipment. Based on price, delivery history, and customer service, Staff is requesting Council’s consideration to approve the purchase in an amount not to exceed $84,255, utilizing the BuyBoard Contract #695-23.
