Consider and take action on a resolution supporting construction of Grand Parkway Segment B (City Manager)
Background:
Bay Area Houston Area Partnership (BAHEP) is seeking an updated resolution in support of Section B construction of the Grand Parkway that incorporates recent design changes that have occurred on the SH 99 project between Interstate (I) 45 and Farm to Market (FM) 2403.
The summary of the design changes include:
1. The addition of two (2) interchanges and four (4) overpasses between I-45 and SH 35 on the new portion of the project
2. A shift of the alignment to the north between Hobbs Road and Calder Road to avoid 26 homes built with in the previously planned alignment
3. Updated right-of-way needs for the south bound direct connector at I 45
4. Design modifications at the Burlington Northern and Santa Fe Railroad
5. Inclusion of approximately 43 stormwater detention ponds along SH 99 segment B1 project limits (See Grand Parkway Map)
On July 9, 2019, City Council adopted a resolution requesting that the Texas Transportation Commission take any and all actions necessary to complete the traffic revenue study, land acquisition, design and ultimately construction activities for "Segment B" of State Highway 99 (Grand Parkway) located in League City, Texas and surrounding areas.
